Ao Encontro da Semente - Levantamento de Variedades Locais Algarve nos dias 4, 5 e 6 de Novembro de 2011 no Museu do Trajo

A Associação In Loco em colaboração com a Associação Colher para Semear está a desenvolver um levantamento das variedades regionais no Algarve interior no âmbito do projecto PROVE – Promover e Vender.

Este encontro pretende reunir interessados e entidades para dar a conhecer iniciativas importantes na valorização das variedades regionais. Será também um importante momento de devolver ao público o trabalho feito e as variedades locais recolhidas. Haverá apresentações, exposições do património agrícola, oficinas e mercado de produtos locais.

O GAIA é um dos associados da colher para semear. Ao mesmo tempo está dentro da campanha "sementes livres" que é uma campanha que defende:
● O direito dos agricultores e horticultores à livre reprodução, guarda, troca e venda das suas sementes.
● A promoção da biodiversidade agrícola através da preservação das sementes de origem regional e biológica.
● A recuperação dos conhecimentos tradicionais e a cultura gastronómica local agrícolas.
● O fim às patentes sobre a vida e ao uso de organismos geneticamente modificados na agricultura e na alimentação.
● Uma nova política agrária que, em vez de apoiar a produção industrial intensiva e as monoculturas, promove a produção ecológica e biodiversa.

A colaboração e participação neste encontro da Colher para Semar é importante "pelo direito à livre reprodução, guarda, troca das sementes, SEMPRE".
