dia do ambiente - 5 de Junho - Barragem do Tua: parar obras já

Ontem no Dia Mundial do Ambiente, 5 de Junho, cerca de 20 activistas das associações GEOTA, LPN, Quercus, SPEA, Fapas, GAIA, Coagret, MCLT, MCDP Linha do Tua, deslocaram-se à Assembleia da República para relembrar à Ministra do Ambiente que a Barragem de Foz Tua que é um erro gravíssimo da política energética e ambiental de Portugal, pois não só não contribui para as necessidades energéticas do País (apenas 0,1% da energia total consumida em Portugal), sendo uma opção demasiado cara e dificilmente justificável, como provocará danos irreversíveis ao nível da destruição ambiental de todo o Vale do Tua, da destruição da economia local e da centenária e turística Linha Ferroviária do Tua, colocando em risco a paisagem do Alto Douro Vinhateiro enquanto Património Mundial da Humanidade classificado pela UNESCO.

A Ministra do Ambiente contínua a dizer que é por questões financeiras que o Governo não opta pela suspensão das obras de construção da barragem da foz do Tua. Para os ambientalistas a concessão custou 53 milhões de euros e como já se gastou algumas dezenas de milhões de euros nas obras que foram feitas até agora, o custo de parar a obra seria neste momento a soma destes valores. No entanto, continuar com a construção da barragem irá custar a todos nós cidadãos algo entre dois mil milhões e três mil milhões de euros.

Aqui ficam 7 razões objectivas, porque a barragem do Tua deve parar já.

1. Não cumpre os objectivos.

2. Não é necessária.

3. É cara.

4. Há alternativas melhores.

5. É um atentado cultural.

6. É um atentado ambiental.

7. É um atentado social.
