A Rede Transeuropeia de Transportes (RTE-T)

A Rede Transeuropeia de Transportes (RTE-T) tem por objectivo eliminar todo o tipo de constrangimentos à livre circulação de mercadorias e pessoas, entre os diferentes países da União Europeia (UE), de modo a potenciar o Mercado Único e a coesão territorial da UE. Estão em construção um conjunto de infraestruturas tais como: rodovias, ferrovias, portos, canais, rios navegáveis, aeroportos, plataformas logísticas, portos secos, etc..., essenciais para o funcionamento de toda uma rede de transporte de pessoas e bens que engloba os modos ferroviário, marítimo, aéreo e rodoviário. Este plano possibilitará um verdadeiro sistema integrado, que tirará partido das vantagens que cada modo de transporte apresenta, reduzindo, assim os custos económicos, ambientais e, sobretudo, o consumo de energia.

Este objectivo será possível desde que haja uma perfeita interligação entre os diferentes modos de transporte, funcionando como peças de um puzzle, que se encaixam harmoniosamente, com um mínimo de processos de rotura. Além das infraestruturas, será adotada, na UE, uma simplificação de procedimentos imprescindíveis para o êxito da RTE-T.

Além do sector dos transportes, vão existir mais outras duas redes europeias, respeitantes à energia (RTE-E) e telecomunicações (eTEN) que fazem parte do programa Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). Este é um tema importantíssimo e que tem vindo a ser muito discutido na Europa mas, no nosso país, raramente é abordado pela comunicação social e pelos políticos portugueses, descurando as políticas lançadas pela UE como se não fizéssemos parte do mesmo espaço agora comum.

No passado dia 27 e 28 de Fevereiro de 2012, ocorreu uma importante reunião, em Bruxelas, sobre a RTE-T, em que esteve presente o Ministro da Economia Álvaro Santos Pereira. Em Portugal, o assunto foi quase ignorado, pois nem foi divulgado, nem o que lá foi debatido.
